VATICAN AND U.N. DISAGREE OVER GAYS

Gay.com reports:

As the United Nations prepares to receive a resolution urging more than 75 member nations to decriminalize homosexuality, the Vatican rears its well-coiffed head against the plan.

The Vatican's permanent observer to the UN told Reuters that the Holy See will oppose the resolution, which France is set to propose this month on behalf of and by unanimous consent of the 27-member European Union.

The reasoning: The Vatican fears ending penalties for gayness will lead to same-sex marriage. Countries that don't let gays wed "will be pilloried and made an object of pressure," and we can't have that.
